Radiant New Colors In Life

What?!  Color on my walls?!?

"What's the big deal? Who cares?"  This was my attitude for 41 years of my life until last week. The painter of the new apartment asked me "What color would you like the rooms?"

“Seriously? I get to choose?  That's so amazing.”

Why is that so amazing? I realized that as an immigrant child growing up in America, my parents were on survival mode for decades.  We kept the same second-hand furniture and white walls for decades.  Then when I immigrated to Taiwan, I repeated the same pattern and had boring white walls.  There was culture shock in the first years, not to mention having a baby and then the crisis of my parent's battle with cancer. I was grateful to just to have the basics of a roof over my head.

In recent years after the storms of grief have passed, Sam and I looked at our old home with its cracked white walls from the earthquakes, flooring that we were about to fall through, a lack of good windows, and we knew it was time to move.

I’d accepted a black and white uncolorful environment as ‘good enough’ for too long. Now the color in my walls is a symbol of healing, restoration and replacing generational patterns of mere survival with a colorful, thriving way of life. We long for this new beginning to allow our family to shine more brightly from the inside out.  Thank you without your love and prayer over these past 7 years in Taiwan, we could not thrive and grow to be a blessing to those we serve. How about you? Are there grim looking parts of your life that could use fresh new colors to make it radiant again? We love to hear from you!

Prayer Requests:

  1. Our eyes would be open to share God's love with contractors or friends that help us move.
  2. Developing good relationships with the new neighbors in our building.
  3. Hearing from God regarding His heart for ministry in this new location.
